波阿斯到了城門，坐在那裡，恰巧波阿斯所說的那至近的親屬經過。波阿斯說：某人哪，你來坐在這裡。他就來坐下。

Then went Boaz up to the gate, and sat him down there: and, behold, the kinsman of whom Boaz spake came by; unto whom he said, Ho, such a one! turn aside, sit down here. And he turned aside, and sat down.

波阿斯來到城門口——辦理法律事務的公共廣場。他看到那個更近的親屬，請他坐下。波阿斯公開正當地處理這件事。正直不走捷徑，即使那樣會更容易。

波阿斯又從本城的長老中揀選了十人，對他們說：請你們坐在這裡。他們就都坐下。

And he took ten men of the elders of the city, and said, Sit ye down here. And they sat down.

他帶了城中的十個長老，請他們坐下作見證。波阿斯創造了一個正當的法律環境。把事情做對很重要——不只是得到你想要的結果，而是以正直的方式達到。

波阿斯對那至近的親屬說：從摩押地回來的拿俄米，現在要賣我們族兄以利米勒的那塊地；

And he said unto the kinsman, Naomi, that is come again out of the country of Moab, selleth a parcel of land, which was our brother Elimelech’s:

波阿斯解釋說拿俄米要賣以利米勒的那塊地。他清楚誠實地陳述事實。在尋求公正的結果時，對情況的透明是必要的。

我想當贖那塊地的是你，其次是我，以外再沒有別人了。你可以在這裡的人面前和我本國的長老面前說明，你若肯贖就贖，若不肯贖就告訴我。那人回答說：我肯贖。

And I thought to advertise thee, saying, Buy it before the inhabitants, and before the elders of my people. If thou wilt redeem it, redeem it: but if thou wilt not redeem it, then tell me, that I may know: for there is none to redeem it beside thee; and I am after thee. And he said, I will redeem it.

屬靈感悟

你在眾人面前買下吧——你若肯贖就贖，若不肯就告訴我。那至近的親屬說：「我肯贖。」波阿斯給他第一機會，尊重正當的次序。公義尊重過程，不只是結果。

波阿斯說：你從拿俄米手中買這地的時候，也當娶（原文是買；10 節同）死人的妻摩押女子路得，使死人在產業上存留他的名。

Then said Boaz, What day thou buyest the field of the hand of Naomi, thou must buy it also of Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of the dead, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance.

屬靈感悟

然後波阿斯加上關鍵條件：你買那地的日子，也要娶摩押女子路得，為死人留名。這塊地附帶著一個責任。贖回不只是關於財產——而是關於人和傳承。

那人說：這樣我就不能贖了，恐怕於我的產業有礙。你可以贖我所當贖的，我不能贖了。

And the kinsman said, I cannot redeem it for myself, lest I mar mine own inheritance: redeem thou my right to thyself; for I cannot redeem it.

屬靈感悟

那更近的親屬退出了：「我不能贖，免得妨礙我自己的產業。」他想要地但不想承擔責任。自利戰勝了責任。有時候最有權利的人最不願意為別人使用它們。

從前，在以色列中要定奪甚麼事，或贖回，或交易，這人就脫鞋給那人。以色列人都以此為證據。

Now this was the manner in former time in Israel concerning redeeming and concerning changing, for to confirm all things; a man plucked off his shoe, and gave it to his neighbour: and this was a testimony in Israel.

屬靈感悟

敘述者暫停解釋脫鞋作為法律手續的古老習俗。這提醒我們這個故事扎根在真實的歷史和真實的習俗中。神在實際的文化和習俗中工作，以成就祂的目的。

那人對波阿斯說：你自己買罷！於是將鞋脫下來了。

Therefore the kinsman said unto Boaz, Buy it for thee. So he drew off his shoe.

那更近的親屬脫下鞋，把權利讓給波阿斯。一個動作，障礙就消除了。有時候看似障礙的東西，在神動工時會以驚人的簡單方式消散。

波阿斯對長老和眾民說：你們今日作見證，凡屬以利米勒和基連、瑪倫的，我都從拿俄米手中置買了；

And Boaz said unto the elders, and unto all the people, Ye are witnesses this day, that I have bought all that was Elimelech’s, and all that was Chilion’s and Mahlon’s, of the hand of Naomi.

波阿斯向長老和百姓宣布他從拿俄米手中買下了以利米勒一切的產業。他很徹底——沒有遺漏。當神提供一位救贖主時，救贖是完全的。

Moreover Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of Mahlon, have I purchased to be my wife, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance, that the name of the dead be not cut off from among his brethren, and from the gate of his place: ye are witnesses this day.

我也娶摩押女子路得為妻，為死人在產業上留名。見證人確認了這一切。波阿斯不只是拯救土地——他在恢復一個家族的譜系。真正的救贖恢復身分，不只是財產。

在城門坐著的眾民和長老都說：我們作見證。願耶和華使進你家的這女子，像建立以色列家的拉結、利亞二人一樣。又願你在以法他得亨通，在伯利恆得名聲。

And all the people that were in the gate, and the elders, said, We are witnesses. The LORD make the woman that is come into thine house like Rachel and like Leah, which two did build the house of Israel: and do thou worthily in Ephratah, and be famous in Bethlehem:

所有的百姓和長老說：「我們是見證人。願耶和華使這女子像拉結和利亞一樣，她們建立了以色列家。」整個社區歡慶並說出祝福。當神恢復時，它成為一個公開的慶祝，不只是私人的事。

And let thy house be like the house of Pharez, whom Tamar bare unto Judah, of the seed which the LORD shall give thee of this young woman.

So Boaz took Ruth, and she was his wife: and when he went in unto her, the LORD gave her conception, and she bare a son.

波阿斯娶了路得為妻，耶和華使她懷孕，她生了一個兒子。故事完成了一個圓——從死亡和空虛到新生命。耶和華使她懷孕；禮物來自祂。每一個新生命都是神聖的禮物。

婦人們對拿俄米說：耶和華是應當稱頌的！因為今日沒有撇下你，使你無至近的親屬。願這孩子在以色列中得名聲。

And the women said unto Naomi, Blessed be the LORD, which hath not left thee this day without a kinsman, that his name may be famous in Israel.

婦女們對拿俄米說：「耶和華是應當稱頌的，今日沒有撇下你使你無至近的親屬。」社區認出了神的手。看似死胡同的地方變成了新的開始。神專門把結局變成開始。

他必提起你的精神，奉養你的老，因為是愛慕你的那兒婦所生的。有這兒婦比有七個兒子還好！

And he shall be unto thee a restorer of thy life, and a nourisher of thine old age: for thy daughter in law, which loveth thee, which is better to thee than seven sons, hath born him.

屬靈感悟

他必使你的精神甦醒，奉養你的老年——因為愛你的兒婦比七個兒子更好，為你生了他。路得對拿俄米的愛被公開頌揚。一個外邦女子超越了七個兒子的文化理想。愛超越一切期望。

拿俄米就把孩子抱在懷中，作他的養母。

And Naomi took the child, and laid it in her bosom, and became nurse unto it.

拿俄米把孩子抱在懷中，作他的保母。那個說自己空空回來的女子現在抱著一個充滿應許的嬰孩。神的恢復如此完全，她從悲傷走向撫育新生命。

鄰舍的婦人說：拿俄米得孩子了！就給孩子起名叫俄備得。這俄備得是耶西的父，耶西是大衛的父。

And the women her neighbours gave it a name, saying, There is a son born to Naomi; and they called his name Obed: he is the father of Jesse, the father of David.

婦女們給他起名叫俄備得——他是耶西的父親，耶西是大衛的父親。這個小小的家庭故事竟然成為以色列最偉大君王的族譜。神把偉大的目的寫進平凡的忠心行動中。

Now these are the generations of Pharez: Pharez begat Hezron,

家譜開始了——從法勒斯到希斯崙。這些不只是名字；它們是神歷代信實的線索。每一個生命都是一條比任何人看得更遠的鏈條中的一環。

And Hezron begat Ram, and Ram begat Amminadab,

希斯崙生蘭，蘭生亞米拿達。名單繼續——平凡的名字、真實的人，每一個都把應許帶向前。我們大多數人不會出名，但我們每個人都在神正在展開的故事中扮演自己的角色。

亞米拿達生拿順；拿順生撒門；

And Amminadab begat Nahshon, and Nahshon begat Salmon,

亞米拿達生拿順，拿順生撒門。每一代都傳遞接力棒。忠信不是關於一個壯觀的時刻；而是關於神的應許從一個世代到下一個世代的穩定傳遞。

撒門生波阿斯；波阿斯生俄備得；

And Salmon begat Boaz, and Boaz begat Obed,

撒門生波阿斯，波阿斯生俄備得。現在我們看到波阿斯的名字在家譜中——那個選擇作救贖主的人。他的忠心使他進入了通往大衛、最終通往耶穌的譜系。

俄備得生耶西；耶西生大衛。

And Obed begat Jesse, and Jesse begat David.
