Ephesians Capítulo 2

KJV — King James Version · 22 versículos

1

And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;

Spiritual Insight

You were dead — not sick, not struggling, but dead in sins. That's how serious our situation was before God intervened. Dead people don't help themselves; they need someone to raise them.

2

Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

Spiritual Insight

We once followed the crowd and the culture without thinking, driven by unseen spiritual forces. It's sobering to realize how easily we can be swept along by the current of our times.

3

Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

Spiritual Insight

We all lived for ourselves at one point, chasing our own desires. The honest truth is that no one starts out naturally good — we all needed rescue.

4

But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,

Spiritual Insight

Two of the most beautiful words in Scripture: 'But God.' Just when the story seems hopeless, God steps in with rich mercy and great love. He specializes in turning 'but' moments around.

5

Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

Spiritual Insight

Even when we were dead in sins, God made us alive with Christ. He didn't wait for us to clean up first — He loved us at our worst.

6

And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

Spiritual Insight

God didn't just forgive us — He seated us with Christ in heavenly places. He gave us a position of honor, not just a clean slate. You're not just pardoned; you're promoted.

7

That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.

Spiritual Insight

God's grace toward you is meant to be a display for all eternity. Your story of rescue is someone else's proof that God is good. You're a walking testimony.

8

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

Spiritual Insight

Saved by grace through faith — and even the faith is a gift. There's no room for spiritual pride here. Everything we have, right down to our ability to believe, came from God.

9

Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Spiritual Insight

Not by works — so no one can boast. If you earned it, you'd have reason to be proud. But grace by definition is unearned, which levels the playing field for everyone.

10

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Spiritual Insight

We are God's workmanship — His masterpiece, His poetry. He created us with good works already prepared. You have a purpose that was designed before you were born.

11

Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;

Spiritual Insight

Remember what you were before — not to live in shame, but to appreciate how far grace has brought you. The Gentiles were outsiders, treated as less than. But God doesn't leave people outside.

12

That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:

Spiritual Insight

Without Christ, without hope, without God — that's a bleak picture. But it's important to acknowledge the darkness to truly celebrate the light that came.

13

But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

Spiritual Insight

Once far away, now brought near by Christ's blood. Distance doesn't matter to God — He specializes in closing the gap between us and Him.

14

For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;

Spiritual Insight

Christ Himself is our peace. He didn't just bring peace; He IS peace. And He broke down every wall that divides people. In a world of walls, that's revolutionary.

15

Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;

Spiritual Insight

He made one new person out of two groups — not by making one group absorb the other, but by creating something entirely new. Unity in Christ isn't uniformity; it's a new creation.

16

And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:

Spiritual Insight

The cross reconciled us both to God. That's the double miracle — enemies become friends with each other because they both became friends with God first.

17

And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.

Spiritual Insight

Peace was preached to those far away and those near — nobody was excluded from the invitation. God's peace has a universal address.

18

For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.

Spiritual Insight

Through Christ, we all have access to the Father by one Spirit. Access — the kind of access that lets you walk right in without an appointment.

19

Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;

Spiritual Insight

No longer strangers or foreigners — you belong. You're a citizen, a family member. In God's house, you have a room with your name on it.

20

And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;

Spiritual Insight

Built on the foundation of apostles and prophets, with Jesus as the cornerstone. That's an unshakeable foundation. Everything aligns from Him.

21

In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:

Spiritual Insight

Every part of the building fits together and grows into a holy temple. God is building something beautiful, and you're part of the architecture.

22

In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.

Spiritual Insight

You too are being built together into a dwelling place for God. God literally wants to live in the community of His people. You are His home.
