約伯記 第 17

我 的 心 靈 消 耗， 我 的 日 子 滅 盡 ； 墳 墓 為 我 預 備 好 了。

My breath is corrupt, my days are extinct, the graves are ready for me.

真 有 戲 笑 我 的 在 我 這 裡， 我 眼 常 見 他 們 惹 動 我。

Are there not mockers with me? and doth not mine eye continue in their provocation?

願 主 拿 憑 據 給 我， 自 己 為 我 作 保。 在 你 以 外 誰 肯 與 我 擊 掌 呢 ？

Lay down now, put me in a surety with thee; who is he that will strike hands with me?

因 你 使 他 們 心 不 明 理， 所 以 你 必 不 高 舉 他 們。

For thou hast hid their heart from understanding: therefore shalt thou not exalt them.

控 告 他 的 朋 友 、 以 朋 友 為 可 搶 奪 的， 連 他 兒 女 的 眼 睛 也 要 失 明。

He that speaketh flattery to his friends, even the eyes of his children shall fail.

神 使 我 作 了 民 中 的 笑 談 ； 他 們 也 吐 唾 沫 在 我 臉 上。

He hath made me also a byword of the people; and aforetime I was as a tabret.

我 的 眼 睛 因 憂 愁 昏 花 ； 我 的 百 體 好 像 影 兒。

Mine eye also is dim by reason of sorrow, and all my members are as a shadow.

正 直 人 因 此 必 驚 奇 ； 無 辜 的 人 要 興 起 攻 擊 不 敬 虔 之 輩。

Upright men shall be astonied at this, and the innocent shall stir up himself against the hypocrite.

然 而， 義 人 要 持 守 所 行 的 道 ； 手 潔 的 人 要 力 上 加 力。

The righteous also shall hold on his way, and he that hath clean hands shall be stronger and stronger.

至 於 你 們 眾 人， 可 以 再 來 辯 論 罷 ！ 你 們 中 間， 我 找 不 著 一 個 智 慧 人。

But as for you all, do ye return, and come now: for I cannot find one wise man among you.

我 的 日 子 已 經 過 了 ； 我 的 謀 算 、 我 心 所 想 望 的 已 經 斷 絕。

My days are past, my purposes are broken off, even the thoughts of my heart.

他 們 以 黑 夜 為 白 晝， 說 ： 亮 光 近 乎 黑 暗。

They change the night into day: the light is short because of darkness.

我 若 盼 望 陰 間 為 我 的 房 屋， 若 下 榻 在 黑 暗 中，

If I wait, the grave is mine house: I have made my bed in the darkness.

若 對 朽 壞 說 ： 你 是 我 的 父 ； 對 蟲 說 ： 你 是 我 的 母 親 姊 妹 ；

I have said to corruption, Thou art my father: to the worm, Thou art my mother, and my sister.

這 樣， 我 的 指 望 在 哪 裡 呢 ？ 我 所 指 望 的 誰 能 看 見 呢 ？

And where is now my hope? as for my hope, who shall see it?

等 到 安 息 在 塵 土 中， 這 指 望 必 下 到 陰 間 的 門 閂 那 裡 了。

They shall go down to the bars of the pit, when our rest together is in the dust.
