Proverbs 第 29

KJV — King James Version · 27

1

He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.

Spiritual Insight

Whoever remains stiff-necked after many rebukes will suddenly be destroyed — without remedy. Repeated refusal to listen leads to an irreversible fall.

2

When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.

Spiritual Insight

When the righteous thrive, the people rejoice; when the wicked rule, the people groan. The mood of a community reflects the character of its leaders.

3

Whoso loveth wisdom rejoiceth his father: but he that keepeth company with harlots spendeth his substance.

Spiritual Insight

A child who loves wisdom brings joy to their father, but a companion of prostitutes wastes their wealth. Wisdom and self-control preserve both relationships and resources.

4

The king by judgment establisheth the land: but he that receiveth gifts overthroweth it.

Spiritual Insight

By justice a king gives a country stability, but one who is greedy for bribes tears it down. Fairness builds nations; corruption crumbles them.

5

A man that flattereth his neighbour spreadeth a net for his feet.

Spiritual Insight

Those who flatter their neighbors are spreading nets for their feet. Manipulative kindness is a trap disguised as warmth.

6

In the transgression of an evil man there is a snare: but the righteous doth sing and rejoice.

Spiritual Insight

In the wicked's sin there is a snare, but the righteous sing and rejoice. Righteous living is not just moral — it's deeply joyful.

7

The righteous considereth the cause of the poor: but the wicked regardeth not to know it.

Spiritual Insight

The righteous care about justice for the poor, but the wicked have no such concern. Compassion for the vulnerable is a hallmark of genuine righteousness.

8

Scornful men bring a city into a snare: but wise men turn away wrath.

Spiritual Insight

Mockers stir up a city, but the wise turn away anger. Wisdom calms storms that foolishness creates.

9

If a wise man contendeth with a foolish man, whether he rage or laugh, there is no rest.

Spiritual Insight

When a wise person goes to court with a fool, the fool only rages and laughs — there's no peace. Some people refuse reason no matter how gently it's offered.

10

The bloodthirsty hate the upright: but the just seek his soul.

Spiritual Insight

The bloodthirsty hate a person of integrity and seek to kill the upright. Honesty attracts both admiration and opposition.

11

A fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise man keepeth it in till afterwards.

Spiritual Insight

A fool gives full vent to their rage, but a wise person keeps themselves under control. The difference between foolishness and wisdom often shows up in the pause between feeling and reacting.

12

If a ruler hearken to lies, all his servants are wicked.

Spiritual Insight

If a ruler listens to lies, all their officials become wicked. Leadership sets the moral tone — for better or for worse.

13

The poor and the deceitful man meet together: the LORD lighteneth both their eyes.

Spiritual Insight

The poor and the oppressor have this in common — the Lord gives sight to both. Every person, regardless of status, depends on the same Creator.

14

The king that faithfully judgeth the poor, his throne shall be established for ever.

Spiritual Insight

If a king judges the poor with fairness, his throne will be established forever. Justice for the vulnerable is the foundation of enduring leadership.

15

The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame.

Spiritual Insight

A rod and a reed produce wisdom, but a child left to itself disgraces its mother. Loving boundaries shape children into people of character.

16

When the wicked are multiplied, transgression increaseth: but the righteous shall see their fall.

Spiritual Insight

When the wicked thrive, so does sin, but the righteous will see their downfall. Don't be discouraged by temporary injustice — the story isn't over.

17

Correct thy son, and he shall give thee rest; yea, he shall give delight unto thy soul.

Spiritual Insight

Discipline your children and they'll bring you peace and delight. The effort of parenting faithfully yields joy that lasts a lifetime.

18

Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.

Spiritual Insight

Where there is no revelation, people cast off restraint, but blessed are those who heed wisdom's instruction. Vision and guidance keep a community anchored.

19

A servant will not be corrected by words: for though he understand he will not answer.

Spiritual Insight

Servants cannot be corrected by mere words — even if they understand, they won't respond. Some people need consequences before they change.

20

Seest thou a man that is hasty in his words? there is more hope of a fool than of him.

Spiritual Insight

Do you see someone who speaks in haste? There's more hope for a fool than for them. Rash words cause more damage than almost anything else.

21

He that delicately bringeth up his servant from a child shall have him become his son at the length.

Spiritual Insight

If a servant is pampered from youth, they'll become a son in the end — and bring grief. Without proper boundaries, even privileges become problems.

22

An angry man stirreth up strife, and a furious man aboundeth in transgression.

Spiritual Insight

An angry person stirs up conflict and a hot-tempered one commits many sins. Anger is not just a feeling — it's a door to a chain of bad decisions.

23

A man’s pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.

Spiritual Insight

Pride brings a person low, but the lowly in spirit gain honor. The path up always begins by going down.

24

Whoso is partner with a thief hateth his own soul: he heareth cursing, and bewrayeth it not.

Spiritual Insight

Partnering with a thief is hating your own life — you hear the curse but say nothing. Silence in the face of wrongdoing makes you complicit.

25

The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.

Spiritual Insight

Fear of others proves to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is kept safe. People-pleasing traps you; God-trusting frees you.

26

Many seek the ruler’s favour; but every man’s judgment cometh from the LORD.

Spiritual Insight

Many seek an audience with a ruler, but justice comes from the Lord. Don't exhaust yourself chasing human favor when divine justice is what you truly need.

27

An unjust man is an abomination to the just: and he that is upright in the way is abomination to the wicked.

Spiritual Insight

The righteous detest the dishonest; the wicked detest the upright. There's a fundamental tension between integrity and corruption that can't be resolved — only chosen.
