Proverbs 第 12
KJV — King James Version · 28 節
Whoso loveth instruction loveth knowledge: but he that hateth reproof is brutish.
Spiritual Insight
If you love learning, you'll welcome even the tough feedback. But rejecting correction is a sure sign of living more like an animal than a thinking person.
A good man obtaineth favour of the LORD: but a man of wicked devices will he condemn.
Spiritual Insight
A good person naturally attracts God's favor. But those who plot wicked schemes will face His judgment instead.
A man shall not be established by wickedness: but the root of the righteous shall not be moved.
Spiritual Insight
You cannot build a lasting life on a foundation of wrongdoing. But the roots of the righteous go deep and cannot be shaken.
A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband: but she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness in his bones.
Spiritual Insight
A virtuous partner is like a crown—bringing honor and joy to the relationship. But a disgraceful one corrodes from the inside out, like rot in the bones.
The thoughts of the righteous are right: but the counsels of the wicked are deceit.
Spiritual Insight
The thoughts of a righteous person naturally lean toward what is right. The plans of the wicked, however, are always laced with deception.
The words of the wicked are to lie in wait for blood: but the mouth of the upright shall deliver them.
Spiritual Insight
The words of the wicked are weapons lying in wait to destroy. But the speech of the upright has the power to rescue and deliver.
The wicked are overthrown, and are not: but the house of the righteous shall stand.
Spiritual Insight
The wicked may rise for a moment, but they are quickly swept away. The household of the righteous, however, stands firm through every storm.
A man shall be commended according to his wisdom: but he that is of a perverse heart shall be despised.
Spiritual Insight
People recognize and respect genuine wisdom. A twisted heart, on the other hand, earns nothing but contempt.
He that is despised, and hath a servant, is better than he that honoureth himself, and lacketh bread.
Spiritual Insight
Being overlooked but having enough is far better than pretending to be important while going hungry. Substance beats image every time.
A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast: but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.
Spiritual Insight
A righteous person even cares about the well-being of their animals. The 'mercy' of the wicked, by contrast, is actually cruel.
He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied with bread: but he that followeth vain persons is void of understanding.
Spiritual Insight
Working your own land brings real satisfaction. Chasing after get-rich-quick schemes shows a lack of good sense.
The wicked desireth the net of evil men: but the root of the righteous yieldeth fruit.
Spiritual Insight
The wicked envy the traps and schemes of other evil people. But the righteous bear fruit simply by being rooted in what is good.
The wicked is snared by the transgression of his lips: but the just shall come out of trouble.
Spiritual Insight
The wicked get caught in the very words they speak. But the just find a way out of trouble, often through the same power of speech used rightly.
A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth: and the recompence of a man’s hands shall be rendered unto him.
Spiritual Insight
Your words and your work both carry consequences. What you say and what you do will come back to you—make sure they're worth receiving.
The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth unto counsel is wise.
Spiritual Insight
A fool is always convinced they're right. True wisdom begins the moment you're willing to listen to someone else's perspective.
A fool’s wrath is presently known: but a prudent man covereth shame.
Spiritual Insight
A fool's anger is on full display for everyone to see. A prudent person knows how to absorb an insult without exploding.
He that speaketh truth sheweth forth righteousness: but a false witness deceit.
Spiritual Insight
Honest testimony naturally reveals the truth and points to justice. A lying witness only exposes the deceit in their own heart.
There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword: but the tongue of the wise is health.
Spiritual Insight
Reckless words can wound as deeply as a sword thrust. But thoughtful, wise speech has the power to heal and restore health.
The lip of truth shall be established for ever: but a lying tongue is but for a moment.
Spiritual Insight
Truth has staying power—it endures long after lies have crumbled. A truthful lip is built to last; a lying tongue is temporary by nature.
Deceit is in the heart of them that imagine evil: but to the counsellors of peace is joy.
Spiritual Insight
Planning evil fills the heart with deceit. But those who work for peace discover a deep and genuine joy.
There shall no evil happen to the just: but the wicked shall be filled with mischief.
Spiritual Insight
No genuine harm can overtake those who walk in what is right. The wicked, however, find themselves constantly surrounded by trouble of their own making.
Lying lips are abomination to the LORD: but they that deal truly are his delight.
Spiritual Insight
God detests lying—it cuts against everything He is. But those who deal honestly bring Him genuine delight.
A prudent man concealeth knowledge: but the heart of fools proclaimeth foolishness.
Spiritual Insight
A wise person doesn't need to broadcast everything they know. Fools, on the other hand, can't help but put their foolishness on display.
The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute.
Spiritual Insight
Diligence eventually puts you in a position of influence and leadership. Laziness, by contrast, ensures you'll always be under someone else's control.
Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop: but a good word maketh it glad.
Spiritual Insight
Anxiety has a way of pressing down on the heart like a heavy weight. But a well-timed, kind word can lift that burden and bring back gladness.
The righteous is more excellent than his neighbour: but the way of the wicked seduceth them.
Spiritual Insight
A righteous person shines brighter than those around them. The way of the wicked, however, leads others astray like a false trail.
The slothful man roasteth not that which he took in hunting: but the substance of a diligent man is precious.
Spiritual Insight
A lazy person won't even prepare what they've already caught. But a diligent person treats even their resources with care and sees their true value.
In the way of righteousness is life: and in the pathway thereof there is no death.
Spiritual Insight
Walking in righteousness is not just about doing right—it is the path of life itself. And on that road, death has lost its power to destroy.
