Proverbs 第 10

KJV — King James Version · 32

1

The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother.

Spiritual Insight

A wise child brings joy to the whole family, while foolishness weighs heavily on a parent's heart. Our choices ripple outward and shape the atmosphere of our home.

2

Treasures of wickedness profit nothing: but righteousness delivereth from death.

Spiritual Insight

Ill-gotten wealth may sparkle for a moment, but it cannot save you when it truly matters. Righteousness is the real treasure—it carries you through the darkest valleys.

3

The LORD will not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish: but he casteth away the substance of the wicked.

Spiritual Insight

God watches over those who seek Him and ensures they are not left wanting. The path of the wicked, however, leads to emptiness and loss.

4

He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.

Spiritual Insight

Laziness gently erodes what you have, while diligence builds something lasting. The difference between poverty and prosperity often comes down to daily effort.

5

He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.

Spiritual Insight

There is a season for work and a season for rest—wisdom knows the difference. Sleeping through your harvest season means watching opportunities slip away.

6

Blessings are upon the head of the just: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.

Spiritual Insight

A life lived with integrity attracts blessings like a magnet, while violence and deceit eventually expose themselves. What covers your life—blessing or ruin—flows from your choices.

7

The memory of the just is blessed: but the name of the wicked shall rot.

Spiritual Insight

The memory of a good person becomes a blessing that outlives them. A corrupt legacy, on the other hand, simply fades into nothing.

8

The wise in heart will receive commandments: but a prating fool shall fall.

Spiritual Insight

A wise heart stays open to correction and grows stronger because of it. The one who talks endlessly without listening sets their own trap.

9

He that walketh uprightly walketh surely: but he that perverteth his ways shall be known.

Spiritual Insight

Walking with integrity gives you confidence—you have nothing to hide. But crooked paths always lead to exposure and shame.

10

He that winketh with the eye causeth sorrow: but a prating fool shall fall.

Spiritual Insight

Sly gestures and hidden motives cause pain even when words aren't spoken. Deceit in any form leads to a fall.

11

The mouth of a righteous man is a well of life: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.

Spiritual Insight

The words of a righteous person refresh and nourish everyone around them, like a flowing spring. But violent speech poisons the very air it enters.

12

Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins.

Spiritual Insight

Love has the remarkable power to heal wounds and cover over offenses. Hatred only fans the flames of conflict, making everything worse.

13

In the lips of him that hath understanding wisdom is found: but a rod is for the back of him that is void of understanding.

Spiritual Insight

Wisdom naturally flows from someone who truly understands life. Those who refuse to learn, however, will face painful consequences again and again.

14

Wise men lay up knowledge: but the mouth of the foolish is near destruction.

Spiritual Insight

Wise people quietly store up knowledge for the right moment. The foolish let careless words pour out, bringing themselves closer to disaster.

15

The rich man’s wealth is his strong city: the destruction of the poor is their poverty.

Spiritual Insight

Wealth can feel like a fortress, but poverty can feel like a trap. Neither defines your worth—what matters is how you steward what you've been given.

16

The labour of the righteous tendeth to life: the fruit of the wicked to sin.

Spiritual Insight

The work of a righteous person feeds their soul and points toward life. The fruit of wickedness only deepens the spiral of sin.

17

He is in the way of life that keepeth instruction: but he that refuseth reproof erreth.

Spiritual Insight

Accepting correction puts you on the path of life itself. Rejecting it may feel easier in the moment, but it leads you further from where you want to be.

18

He that hideth hatred with lying lips, and he that uttereth a slander, is a fool.

Spiritual Insight

Hiding hatred behind fake words or spreading rumors—both are foolishness in disguise. Honesty, even when difficult, is always the wiser path.

19

In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise.

Spiritual Insight

Talking too much almost guarantees you'll say something wrong. There is real wisdom in knowing when to stay quiet.

20

The tongue of the just is as choice silver: the heart of the wicked is little worth.

Spiritual Insight

The words of a just person carry immense value, like refined silver. A wicked heart, despite its outward confidence, holds little real worth.

21

The lips of the righteous feed many: but fools die for want of wisdom.

Spiritual Insight

When you speak with wisdom, you nourish the people around you. Without understanding, even the basic needs of life remain out of reach.

22

The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.

Spiritual Insight

There is a kind of blessing from God that brings true abundance without the heavy burden of sorrow. His gifts don't come with hidden costs.

23

It is as sport to a fool to do mischief: but a man of understanding hath wisdom.

Spiritual Insight

What the foolish person treats as a game actually causes real harm. A person of understanding finds their joy in wisdom, not in mischief.

24

The fear of the wicked, it shall come upon him: but the desire of the righteous shall be granted.

Spiritual Insight

The very thing the wicked fear tends to find them. But the deepest desires of the righteous—God delights in fulfilling those.

25

As the whirlwind passeth, so is the wicked no more: but the righteous is an everlasting foundation.

Spiritual Insight

Storms will come, and the wicked are swept away like dust. But the righteous remain standing—anchored, steady, and sure.

26

As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to them that send him.

Spiritual Insight

An unreliable person is as irritating as smoke in your eyes or vinegar on your teeth. When someone sends you, do the job well—it matters more than you think.

27

The fear of the LORD prolongeth days: but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.

Spiritual Insight

A life lived in reverence toward God tends to be longer and richer. The years of those who ignore Him are often cut short by their own choices.

28

The hope of the righteous shall be gladness: but the expectation of the wicked shall perish.

Spiritual Insight

Righteousness leads to genuine joy that doesn't fade. The expectations built on wickedness, however, will always crumble in the end.

29

The way of the LORD is strength to the upright: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.

Spiritual Insight

Walking in God's way gives you strength for the journey. Choosing a path of wrongdoing may seem easy, but it leads to destruction.

30

The righteous shall never be removed: but the wicked shall not inhabit the earth.

Spiritual Insight

The righteous have a permanence that the world cannot shake. But those who live wickedly will find they have no lasting place.

31

The mouth of the just bringeth forth wisdom: but the froward tongue shall be cut out.

Spiritual Insight

When a just person speaks, wisdom flows naturally. Deceitful speech, on the other hand, will eventually be silenced.

32

The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable: but the mouth of the wicked speaketh frowardness.

Spiritual Insight

The righteous instinctively know what is good and fitting to say. The wicked, by contrast, blurt out whatever is twisted and harmful.
