Mark 第 2
KJV — King James Version · 28 節
And again he entered into Capernaum after some days; and it was noised that he was in the house.
Spiritual Insight
Word got around that Jesus was back in town, and people came running. When Jesus shows up somewhere, it never stays a secret for long — hope has a way of spreading.
And straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive them, no, not so much as about the door: and he preached the word unto them.
Spiritual Insight
The house was packed — no room even at the door — and Jesus preached the word. Sometimes the greatest hunger for God's truth shows up in the most crowded, chaotic moments.
And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four.
Spiritual Insight
Four friends carried a paralyzed man to Jesus. They couldn't fix him themselves, but they knew Someone who could. Real friendship means carrying each other to Jesus.
And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay.
Spiritual Insight
When the door was blocked, they went through the roof. These friends refused to let obstacles stop them. Determined faith finds a way when conventional paths are closed.
When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee.
Spiritual Insight
Jesus saw their faith — not just the paralyzed man's faith, but the friends' faith. Sometimes our belief carries someone who can't yet believe for themselves. That's the power of community.
But there were certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts,
Spiritual Insight
Some teachers of the law were sitting there, not to learn but to judge. It's easy to be a critic in the room where God is moving, but much harder to be a participant.
Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only?
Spiritual Insight
Who can forgive sins but God alone? Their theology was actually correct — they just didn't realize God was standing right in front of them. Sometimes we miss God because He doesn't look the way we expected.
And immediately when Jesus perceived in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, he said unto them, Why reason ye these things in your hearts?
Spiritual Insight
Jesus knew what they were thinking. You can't hide your doubts or criticisms from Him — but that's actually good news, because it means He can address them directly.
Whether is it easier to say to the sick of the palsy, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and take up thy bed, and walk?
Spiritual Insight
Which is easier: to forgive sins or to heal a paralyzed body? Jesus turned their logic upside down. The visible miracle was meant to prove the invisible one.
But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (he saith to the sick of the palsy,)
Spiritual Insight
The Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins — right here, right now, in the middle of ordinary life. Forgiveness isn't locked away in heaven; it's available on earth.
I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy bed, and go thy way into thine house.
Spiritual Insight
Get up, pick up your mat, and go home. Jesus didn't just heal the man — He gave him back his dignity and his life. True restoration touches every part of who we are.
And immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went forth before them all; insomuch that they were all amazed, and glorified God, saying, We never saw it on this fashion.
Spiritual Insight
The man walked out in front of everyone, and the crowd was stunned into praise. When God moves in undeniable ways, even skeptics end up glorifying Him.
And he went forth again by the sea side; and all the multitude resorted unto him, and he taught them.
Spiritual Insight
Jesus went back to the seaside, and the crowd followed. He always made time for teaching — meeting people wherever they were, whether in a house or on a beach.
And as he passed by, he saw Levi the son of Alphaeus sitting at the receipt of custom, and said unto him, Follow me. And he arose and followed him.
Spiritual Insight
Levi was sitting at his tax booth — complicit in a corrupt system — when Jesus simply said, Follow me. Jesus doesn't wait for us to clean ourselves up before calling us.
And it came to pass, that, as Jesus sat at meat in his house, many publicans and sinners sat also together with Jesus and his disciples: for there were many, and they followed him.
Spiritual Insight
Jesus ate with tax collectors and sinners — the people everyone else avoided. Sharing a meal was a radical act of acceptance. Jesus' table had room for everyone.
And when the scribes and Pharisees saw him eat with publicans and sinners, they said unto his disciples, How is it that he eateth and drinketh with publicans and sinners?
Spiritual Insight
The religious leaders were scandalized by Jesus' dinner guests. They measured people by their past; Jesus measured them by their potential.
When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
Spiritual Insight
It's not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. Jesus came for the broken, the lost, the messy — and that's all of us, whether we admit it or not.
And the disciples of John and of the Pharisees used to fast: and they come and say unto him, Why do the disciples of John and of the Pharisees fast, but thy disciples fast not?
Spiritual Insight
People noticed that Jesus' disciples weren't fasting like the others. Different expressions of faith can make people uncomfortable, but not all differences are wrong.
And Jesus said unto them, Can the children of the bridechamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them? as long as they have the bridegroom with them, they cannot fast.
Spiritual Insight
How can the wedding guests fast while the bridegroom is with them? Jesus brought celebration, not just obligation. Joy is a perfectly valid response to God's presence.
But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then shall they fast in those days.
Spiritual Insight
But the day will come when the bridegroom is taken away. Jesus hinted at a future sorrow, yet even in that foreshadowing, there was no panic — just honest preparation.
No man also seweth a piece of new cloth on an old garment: else the new piece that filled it up taketh away from the old, and the rent is made worse.
Spiritual Insight
You can't patch old cloth with new fabric — the tear just gets worse. Jesus was saying something profound: the old system can't contain the new thing God is doing.
And no man putteth new wine into old bottles: else the new wine doth burst the bottles, and the wine is spilled, and the bottles will be marred: but new wine must be put into new bottles.
Spiritual Insight
New wine needs new wineskins, or both are ruined. God's new work requires new containers — new hearts, new minds, new ways of thinking. Don't try to squeeze grace into rigid old structures.
And it came to pass, that he went through the corn fields on the sabbath day; and his disciples began, as they went, to pluck the ears of corn.
Spiritual Insight
Walking through grain fields on the Sabbath, the disciples picked some heads of grain. They were just hungry. Sometimes the simplest human needs clash with the strictest rules.
And the Pharisees said unto him, Behold, why do they on the sabbath day that which is not lawful?
Spiritual Insight
The Pharisees immediately jumped on this as a Sabbath violation. When you're looking for faults, you'll always find them — but you might miss the bigger picture entirely.
And he said unto them, Have ye never read what David did, when he had need, and was an hungred, he, and they that were with him?
Spiritual Insight
Jesus pointed them to David — their greatest king — who also bent the rules when hunger demanded it. Scripture itself shows that human need matters to God.
How he went into the house of God in the days of Abiathar the high priest, and did eat the shewbread, which is not lawful to eat but for the priests, and gave also to them which were with him?
Spiritual Insight
David ate the sacred bread that only priests were allowed to eat, and God didn't condemn him. Mercy triumphs over ritual when real needs are on the line.
And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:
Spiritual Insight
The Sabbath was made for people, not people for the Sabbath. God's gifts are meant to serve us, not burden us. Rest is a blessing, not a test.
Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.
Spiritual Insight
The Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath. Jesus has authority over our rest, our worship, our schedules. When He leads, even our constraints become freedoms.
