2 Thessalonians 第 2
KJV — King James Version · 17 節
Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,
Spiritual Insight
Paul appeals about the coming of Jesus and our gathering to Him — these aren't fears to dread but hopes to hold onto. The end of the story is reunion, not abandonment.
That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.
Spiritual Insight
Don't be easily shaken — not by rumors, not by supposed prophecies, not by fake letters. A grounded faith isn't tossed around by every alarming claim. Stability comes from knowing the real thing.
Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
Spiritual Insight
The rebellion and the man of sin must come first — there's an order to things. God isn't surprised by evil's escalation. Understanding the timeline protects us from panic.
Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.
Spiritual Insight
The ultimate arrogance is setting yourself up as God — demanding worship that belongs only to the Creator. History shows this pattern repeating: human pride trying to take God's place.
Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?
Spiritual Insight
Paul reminds them: I already told you this when I was with you. Repetition isn't failure — it's how important truths stick. The best teachers say the most crucial things over and over.
And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.
Spiritual Insight
Something is holding back the full revelation of evil — for now. God's restraining hand is still at work, keeping things from unraveling completely. That's mercy in action.
For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.
Spiritual Insight
The mystery of lawlessness is already at work — evil doesn't suddenly appear, it brews. But it's being restrained until the right time. God is never behind schedule.
And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:
Spiritual Insight
The wicked one will be destroyed not by armies but by the breath of Jesus' mouth. One word from Him is enough. Power doesn't always look like force; sometimes it looks like simple authority.
Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
Spiritual Insight
Counterfeit miracles — Satan can do impressive things, but they're cheap copies of God's real power. Don't be fooled by spectacle. True power transforms; false power only impresses.
And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
Spiritual Insight
The real tragedy isn't deception — it's refusing to love the truth. People perish not because they were tricked, but because their hearts chose not to welcome what was true and saving.
And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
Spiritual Insight
When people consistently reject truth, God eventually lets them believe the lie they've chosen. It's the hardest kind of judgment — getting exactly what you asked for.
That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
Spiritual Insight
Choosing pleasure over truth has a compounding cost. It's not a single mistake but a direction that leads somewhere terrible. The small daily choices about what we love really do matter.
But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:
Spiritual Insight
But you — you are loved and chosen from the beginning. In the middle of warnings about deception, Paul bursts into thanksgiving. God's choice of us is the safest thing we can hold onto.
Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Spiritual Insight
We weren't just saved from something — we were called to something: sharing in Christ's glory. The gospel isn't only a rescue mission; it's an invitation to splendor.
Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle.
Spiritual Insight
Stand firm. Hold onto what you've been taught — whether spoken or written. In a world of shifting opinions, there's enormous strength in simply not letting go of what you know is true.
Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace,
Spiritual Insight
Jesus and the Father love us personally — they give everlasting encouragement and good hope. This isn't generic optimism; it's a specific gift from a personal God who knows exactly what we need.
Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work.
Spiritual Insight
May He comfort your hearts and strengthen you in every good word and deed. Comfort isn't just feeling better — it's being empowered to keep going. God's comfort has legs.
