Proverbs Capítulo 5
KJV — King James Version · 23 versículos
My son, attend unto my wisdom, and bow thine ear to my understanding:
Spiritual Insight
Solomon once again asks for your full attention — he's about to share something that could save you from deep heartache. Lean in close; this matters.
That thou mayest regard discretion, and that thy lips may keep knowledge.
Spiritual Insight
The goal isn't just to hear wisdom but to let it shape your lips — so that what you speak reflects the discretion you've gained. Wisdom should flavor your very words.
For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil:
Spiritual Insight
Temptation's words drip like honey — sweet, smooth, and irresistible to the ear. But sweetness on the tongue doesn't guarantee sweetness in the end.
But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.
Spiritual Insight
What starts sweet turns bitter as wormwood and sharp as a blade — the aftertaste of sin is always the opposite of its entrance. Remember the ending when the beginning tempts you.
Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell.
Spiritual Insight
Her feet lead straight down to death — this isn't a detour, it's a destination. The path of temptation has a direction, and it doesn't lead anywhere you want to go.
Lest thou shouldest ponder the path of life, her ways are moveable, that thou canst not know them.
Spiritual Insight
She doesn't even think about the path of life — her ways are unstable and unknowable. Sin blinds you to the good road while making the bad one look like the only option.
Hear me now therefore, O ye children, and depart not from the words of my mouth.
Spiritual Insight
Now listen carefully and don't wander off — Solomon is pleading. When someone who loves you says 'don't leave this path,' it's because they've seen where the other ones lead.
Remove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house:
Spiritual Insight
Keep your distance — don't even go near the door. Sometimes the smartest boundary is physical distance. You can't fall into a trap you never approach.
Lest thou give thine honour unto others, and thy years unto the cruel:
Spiritual Insight
Sin costs you your honor and your best years — it hands over what's precious to those who don't care about you. The price tag is always higher than advertised.
Lest strangers be filled with thy wealth; and thy labours be in the house of a stranger;
Spiritual Insight
Your hard-earned resources can end up benefiting strangers — sin has a way of draining your wealth into empty places. What you built with care can be lost through careless choices.
And thou mourn at the last, when thy flesh and thy body are consumed,
Spiritual Insight
Regret at the end is one of life's heaviest burdens — mourning over what could have been. Wisdom invites you to consider the end while you're still at the beginning.
And say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof;
Spiritual Insight
The lament of regret sounds like this: 'I hated correction and despised being told I was wrong.' Pride today becomes tomorrow's deepest sorrow.
And have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor inclined mine ear to them that instructed me!
Spiritual Insight
I didn't listen to those who tried to teach me — a confession born too late. The teachers were there, the warnings were given, but ears were closed. Don't let that be your story.
I was almost in all evil in the midst of the congregation and assembly.
Spiritual Insight
I was almost entirely consumed by evil, right in the middle of the community — private sin has a way of becoming public devastation. What hides in the dark eventually surfaces.
Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own well.
Spiritual Insight
Drink from your own well — find satisfaction in what God has given you. Contentment in your own life and relationships is a gift worth cultivating.
Let thy fountains be dispersed abroad, and rivers of waters in the streets.
Spiritual Insight
Let your blessings flow freely — don't hoard what God has given you. Generosity within proper boundaries is a sign of a healthy, flourishing life.
Let them be only thine own, and not strangers’ with thee.
Spiritual Insight
Some things are meant to be yours alone — your intimacy, your loyalty, your deepest commitments. Not everything should be shared; some treasures are for keeping.
Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth.
Spiritual Insight
Rejoice in the wife of your youth — let your fountain be blessed. God designed love and marriage to be a source of deep joy. Celebrate what He's given you.
Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love.
Spiritual Insight
Be captivated by her love always — God invites you to a love that is satisfying and intoxicating in the best way. True love is meant to be all-consuming and deeply fulfilling.
And why wilt thou, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace the bosom of a stranger?
Spiritual Insight
Why would you be captivated by a stranger when you have love at home? The question hangs in the air — because the answer never makes sense in the light of truth.
For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and he pondereth all his goings.
Spiritual Insight
All your ways are before the Lord — He sees everything. This isn't meant to scare you but to comfort you: nothing escapes His notice, and nothing is beyond His care.
His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sins.
Spiritual Insight
Sin has a way of tying you up in its own cords — the very things you thought would free you become the ropes that bind you. Iniquity traps the one who practices it.
He shall die without instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.
Spiritual Insight
He dies for lack of discipline, led astray by his own folly. It's a tragic end that didn't have to happen — wisdom was available, but the heart refused it.
