Proverbs Capítulo 24

KJV — King James Version · 34 versículos

1

Be not thou envious against evil men, neither desire to be with them.

Spiritual Insight

Don't envy the wicked or desire to be with them. Their success is a mirage that hides a dry and empty reality.

2

For their heart studieth destruction, and their lips talk of mischief.

Spiritual Insight

Their hearts plot violence and their lips talk about making trouble. A heart that plans harm produces a harvest of pain.

3

Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established:

Spiritual Insight

By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established. A strong life requires more than effort — it requires insight.

4

And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches.

Spiritual Insight

Through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures. Learning fills the spaces of your life with richness.

5

A wise man is strong; yea, a man of knowledge increaseth strength.

Spiritual Insight

The wise are mightier than the strong, and knowledge is more powerful than physical strength. True power lives in the mind and spirit.

6

For by wise counsel thou shalt make thy war: and in multitude of counsellors there is safety.

Spiritual Insight

Surely you need guidance to wage war, and victory comes from many advisors. Don't face battles alone — seek wise counsel.

7

Wisdom is too high for a fool: he openeth not his mouth in the gate.

Spiritual Insight

Wisdom is too high for a fool — they have nothing to say in the city gate. Without understanding, even a loud voice carries no weight.

8

He that deviseth to do evil shall be called a mischievous person.

Spiritual Insight

Whoever plots evil will be called a schemer. Your reputation follows your intentions, not just your actions.

9

The thought of foolishness is sin: and the scorner is an abomination to men.

Spiritual Insight

Foolish schemes are sin, and the mocker is detestable to everyone. Contempt for others isolates you from the very community you need.

10

If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small.

Spiritual Insight

If you falter in a day of trouble, how small is your strength! Adversity reveals what casual comfort never could.

11

If thou forbear to deliver them that are drawn unto death, and those that are ready to be slain;

Spiritual Insight

Rescue those being led to death — hold back those stumbling toward slaughter. When you can save someone, inaction is not neutral.

12

If thou sayest, Behold, we knew it not; doth not he that pondereth the heart consider it? and he that keepeth thy soul, doth not he know it? and shall not he render to every man according to his works?

Spiritual Insight

If you say 'We knew nothing about it,' God who weighs hearts will understand. He who guards your life knows the truth — and will repay accordingly.

13

My son, eat thou honey, because it is good; and the honeycomb, which is sweet to thy taste:

Spiritual Insight

Eat honey, my child — it is good, and the honeycomb is sweet to your taste. God's creation offers genuine pleasures meant to be enjoyed.

14

So shall the knowledge of wisdom be unto thy soul: when thou hast found it, then there shall be a reward, and thy expectation shall not be cut off.

Spiritual Insight

Know also that wisdom is like honey for your soul — if you find it, there is a future hope for you. Wisdom nourishes from the inside out.

15

Lay not wait, O wicked man, against the dwelling of the righteous; spoil not his resting place:

Spiritual Insight

Don't lie in wait like the wicked against the home of the righteous. What you plan against others may come back to visit you.

16

For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.

Spiritual Insight

The righteous may fall seven times but they rise again, while the wicked stumble when calamity strikes. Resilience is a mark of faith.

17

Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth:

Spiritual Insight

Don't gloat when your enemy falls, and don't let your heart rejoice when they stumble. Schadenfreude diminishes your own character.

18

Lest the LORD see it, and it displease him, and he turn away his wrath from him.

Spiritual Insight

The Lord will see and disapprove and turn His wrath away from them. Your vengeful attitude might actually be protecting the one you resent.

19

Fret not thyself because of evil men, neither be thou envious at the wicked;

Spiritual Insight

Don't fret because of evildoers or envy the wicked. Their story is not yet finished — wait for the final chapter.

20

For there shall be no reward to the evil man; the candle of the wicked shall be put out.

Spiritual Insight

The evil person has no future hope and the lamp of the wicked will be snuffed out. Lasting light belongs to those who walk in truth.

21

My son, fear thou the LORD and the king: and meddle not with them that are given to change:

Spiritual Insight

Fear the Lord and the king, my child, and don't join with rebellious officials. Respect for rightful authority protects you from unnecessary trouble.

22

For their calamity shall rise suddenly; and who knoweth the ruin of them both?

Spiritual Insight

Disaster will come upon them suddenly — who knows the ruin that comes from both? Rebellion against authority invites sudden catastrophe.

23

These things also belong to the wise. It is not good to have respect of persons in judgment.

Spiritual Insight

These also are sayings of the wise: To show partiality in judging is not good. Fairness must be blind to status and privilege.

24

He that saith unto the wicked, Thou art righteous; him shall the people curse, nations shall abhor him:

Spiritual Insight

Whoever says to the guilty 'You are innocent' will be cursed by peoples and denounced by nations. Calling wrong right poisons the very fabric of society.

25

But to them that rebuke him shall be delight, and a good blessing shall come upon them.

Spiritual Insight

But those who rebuke the guilty will receive delight and a good blessing will come upon them. Honesty is unpopular but deeply rewarding.

26

Every man shall kiss his lips that giveth a right answer.

Spiritual Insight

An honest answer is like a kiss on the lips. Truth told with love is one of the most intimate gifts you can offer.

27

Prepare thy work without, and make it fit for thyself in the field; and afterwards build thine house.

Spiritual Insight

Put your outdoor work in order and get your fields ready — after that, build your house. Preparation before pleasure is the path to lasting stability.

28

Be not a witness against thy neighbour without cause; and deceive not with thy lips.

Spiritual Insight

Don't testify against your neighbor without cause or deceive with your lips. Words have power — use them with integrity.

29

Say not, I will do so to him as he hath done to me: I will render to the man according to his work.

Spiritual Insight

Don't say 'I'll do to them as they've done to me' — that's the path of petty revenge. Rising above retaliation shows true strength.

30

I went by the field of the slothful, and by the vineyard of the man void of understanding;

Spiritual Insight

I went past the field of a lazy person, past the vineyard of someone lacking judgment. There's a lesson in neglect if we're willing to see it.

31

And, lo, it was all grown over with thorns, and nettles had covered the face thereof, and the stone wall thereof was broken down.

Spiritual Insight

Thorns had come up everywhere, the ground was covered with weeds, and the stone wall was in ruins. Neglect is visible and progressive.

32

Then I saw, and considered it well: I looked upon it, and received instruction.

Spiritual Insight

I applied my heart to what I observed and learned a lesson from what I saw. Even failures can be some of our best teachers.

33

Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:

Spiritual Insight

A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest — and poverty will come on you like a thief. Small compromises accumulate into major consequences.

34

So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth; and thy want as an armed man.

Spiritual Insight

Scarcity will come like an armed man. What starts as a small indulgence can conquer your entire life.
