Proverbs Capítulo 22

KJV — King James Version · 29 versículos

1

A GOOD name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold.

Spiritual Insight

A good reputation and genuine relationships are worth more than any amount of wealth. When people trust you, you have something money can't buy.

2

The rich and poor meet together: the LORD is the maker of them all.

Spiritual Insight

Rich and poor share this in common — God made them both. In His eyes, every person carries equal dignity.

3

A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished.

Spiritual Insight

The prudent see danger coming and take cover, while the careless walk right into trouble. Wisdom often looks like simply paying attention.

4

By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honour, and life.

Spiritual Insight

Humility and the fear of the Lord go hand in hand — together they bring wealth, honor, and life itself. Bowing low lifts you higher.

5

Thorns and snares are in the way of the froward: he that doth keep his soul shall be far from them.

Spiritual Insight

Thorns and snares line the path of the crooked, but whoever guards their soul stays far from trouble. Integrity is its own protection.

6

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

Spiritual Insight

Train children in the way they should go, and even when they're old they won't depart from it. The seeds planted in young hearts bear fruit for a lifetime.

7

The rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.

Spiritual Insight

The borrower is servant to the lender — debt limits your freedom. Financial wisdom creates space for generosity and peace.

8

He that soweth iniquity shall reap vanity: and the rod of his anger shall fail.

Spiritual Insight

Those who sow injustice will harvest trouble, and their own anger will be their undoing. What you plant determines what you reap.

9

He that hath a bountiful eye shall be blessed; for he giveth of his bread to the poor.

Spiritual Insight

Generous people share their food with the poor, and God blesses them for it. An open hand invites an open heaven.

10

Cast out the scorner, and contention shall go out; yea, strife and reproach shall cease.

Spiritual Insight

Drive out the mocker and conflict goes with them — peace returns when troublemakers leave. Sometimes the bravest thing is setting a boundary.

11

He that loveth pureness of heart, for the grace of his lips the king shall be his friend.

Spiritual Insight

The one who loves a pure heart and speaks graciously will find that even kings are drawn to them. Sincerity opens remarkable doors.

12

The eyes of the LORD preserve knowledge, and he overthroweth the words of the transgressor.

Spiritual Insight

The Lord preserves knowledge, but He overthrows the words of the faithless. Truth has a permanent guardian in God.

13

The slothful man saith, There is a lion without, I shall be slain in the streets.

Spiritual Insight

The lazy person says 'There's a lion outside!' — fear becomes a convenient excuse for inaction. Most obstacles exist more in our mind than on the road.

14

The mouth of strange women is a deep pit: he that is abhorred of the LORD shall fall therein.

Spiritual Insight

The mouth of an adulteress is a deep pit — those under God's wrath fall into it. Desire that disregards boundaries leads to a fall.

15

Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.

Spiritual Insight

Folly is bound up in a child's heart, but the rod of discipline drives it far away. Loving correction is one of the greatest gifts you can give.

16

He that oppresseth the poor to increase his riches, and he that giveth to the rich, shall surely come to want.

Spiritual Insight

Oppressing the poor to enrich yourself and giving gifts to the rich both lead to poverty in the end. Greed has a way of consuming itself.

17

Bow down thine ear, and hear the words of the wise, and apply thine heart unto my knowledge.

Spiritual Insight

Listen to the words of the wise and apply your heart to their instruction. Paying attention to wisdom is an investment that never stops returning.

18

For it is a pleasant thing if thou keep them within thee; they shall withal be fitted in thy lips.

Spiritual Insight

It's a beautiful thing when truth and wisdom settle deep within you, ready on your lips for every situation. Let these treasures fill your inner life.

19

That thy trust may be in the LORD, I have made known to thee this day, even to thee.

Spiritual Insight

These teachings are given so that your trust may be in the Lord alone. All wisdom ultimately points back to reliance on Him.

20

Have not I written to thee excellent things in counsels and knowledge,

Spiritual Insight

Wisdom offers you thirty sayings — counsel and knowledge for navigating life well. God doesn't leave us without a map.

21

That I might make thee know the certainty of the words of truth; that thou mightest answer the words of truth to them that send unto thee?

Spiritual Insight

These are written so you may know what is reliable and true, giving you a solid foundation for answering those who ask. Preparation equips you for every conversation.

22

Rob not the poor, because he is poor: neither oppress the afflicted in the gate:

Spiritual Insight

Do not exploit the poor because they are poor, and don't crush the needy in court. God takes their case personally.

23

For the LORD will plead their cause, and spoil the soul of those that spoiled them.

Spiritual Insight

The Lord will plead their cause and take the life of those who plundered them. Justice may be delayed, but it is never denied.

24

Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go:

Spiritual Insight

Don't make friends with angry people or hang out with those who lose their temper. Their patterns will become your patterns.

25

Lest thou learn his ways, and get a snare to thy soul.

Spiritual Insight

You might learn their ways and get yourself ensnared. The company you keep shapes the person you become.

26

Be not thou one of them that strike hands, or of them that are sureties for debts.

Spiritual Insight

Don't be one who pledges what isn't yours — if you lack the means, don't put your own bed at risk. Practical wisdom keeps life simple.

27

If thou hast nothing to pay, why should he take away thy bed from under thee?

Spiritual Insight

If you have nothing to pay with, your bed will be taken from under you. Promises without provision lead to painful consequences.

28

Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set.

Spiritual Insight

Don't move the ancient boundary stones that your ancestors set in place. Some traditions exist to protect what matters.

29

Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.

Spiritual Insight

Skilled workers will serve before kings rather than ordinary people. Excellence in your craft opens doors to extraordinary opportunities.
