John Capítulo 17
KJV — King James Version · 26 versículos
These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:
Spiritual Insight
Jesus lifts His eyes to heaven and prays openly. There's something powerful about watching the Son talk to the Father — intimate yet cosmic in scope.
As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.
Spiritual Insight
Authority over all humanity was given to Jesus so He could give eternal life. Power in God's hands always flows outward as gift.
And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
Spiritual Insight
Eternal life isn't just living forever — it's knowing God. The deepest, most lasting life comes from relationship, not just duration.
I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.
Spiritual Insight
What a thing to say: 'I finished the work You gave Me.' Jesus lived with such clarity of purpose that He could look back with zero regret.
And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.
Spiritual Insight
Before the world existed, Jesus shared glory with the Father. He's asking to return to the love and splendor that were His from the start.
I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word.
Spiritual Insight
Jesus didn't just teach about God — He revealed God's very name, His character, to real people. And those people held on to His words.
Now they have known that all things whatsoever thou hast given me are of thee.
Spiritual Insight
Understanding grows over time. The disciples came to realize that everything Jesus had and taught came directly from the Father.
For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me.
Spiritual Insight
Jesus passed on the Father's words like a treasured gift, and the disciples received them. That chain of trust is still happening today.
I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine.
Spiritual Insight
Jesus prays specifically for His people — not generically for the world, but intimately for those entrusted to Him. You are personally prayed for.
And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them.
Spiritual Insight
There's a beautiful mutual belonging here — everything of Jesus is the Father's, and everything of the Father's is Jesus'. And we're caught up in that.
And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.
Spiritual Insight
Jesus is leaving, but He's not leaving us unprotected. He asks the Father to guard us with His name — that's the strongest shield there is.
While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.
Spiritual Insight
While He was here, Jesus kept every person the Father gave Him. Only one was lost — and even that fulfilled Scripture. His track record is perfect.
And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves.
Spiritual Insight
Jesus wants His joy to fill us — not just trickle in, but overflow. He's praying for fullness, not mere survival.
I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
Spiritual Insight
Holding onto God's word will make you stand out — and not always in a comfortable way. The world's hostility is evidence we don't belong to it.
I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.
Spiritual Insight
Jesus doesn't pray for our escape — He prays for our protection. We're meant to be in the world, just not overcome by its darkness.
They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
Spiritual Insight
We're different — not because we're better, but because we belong to Someone else. Our true home shapes who we are right now.
Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
Spiritual Insight
Set apart by truth — not by our own ideas of goodness, but by God's word. His truth is what makes us holy, not our effort.
As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.
Spiritual Insight
Just as the Father sent Jesus, Jesus sends us. That means our daily life has a mission woven into it — we're sent people.
And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.
Spiritual Insight
Jesus consecrated Himself for our sake. His holiness wasn't self-serving — it was a gift that opens the door for our own transformation.
Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;
Spiritual Insight
This prayer reaches across centuries to include you. Jesus prayed for future believers — people who would come to faith through the words of others.
That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.
Spiritual Insight
Unity isn't about sameness — it's about oneness like the Father and Son share. When we're united, the world catches a glimpse of who sent Jesus.
And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:
Spiritual Insight
Jesus actually shares His glory with us. Not because we deserve it, but because unity in diversity reflects God's own nature.
I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.
Spiritual Insight
The Father loves us with the same love He has for Jesus. Let that sink in — you are loved with eternal, unshakeable, divine affection.
Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.
Spiritual Insight
Jesus wants us to be with Him — not just believe in Him from a distance. He desires our presence, and for us to see His glory.
O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me.
Spiritual Insight
The world missed who God is, but Jesus knew Him — and He made sure His followers did too. There's beauty in being let in on the secret.
And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.
Spiritual Insight
Jesus keeps revealing the Father — it's ongoing, not a one-time thing. His goal? That the Father's love would live inside us.
